The Everest Three Passes Trek is the most complete and adventurous journey in the Everest region, combining Everest Base Camp, Gokyo Lakes, and remote Himalayan valleys into one epic circuit in the Khumbu region.

This challenging trek crosses three high mountain passes above 5,300 m — Renjo La (5,360 m), Cho La (5,420 m), and Kongma La (5,535 m) — offering breathtaking views of the world’s highest peaks, including Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.

Along the route, you will explore traditional Sherpa villages, ancient Buddhist monasteries, glaciers, and crystal-clear sacred lakes. Highlights include famous viewpoints like Gokyo Ri (5,360 m), Kala Patthar (5,643 m), and Chhukung Ri (5,550 m), each offering unforgettable Himalayan panoramas.

This trek is long, high, and physically demanding, requiring good fitness and proper acclimatization, but it rewards you with some of the most spectacular mountain scenery on Earth — including four 8,000-meter peaks in one journey.

The Everest Three Passes Trek is not just a hike — it is a true Himalayan adventure through nature, culture, and the highest mountains in the world.

After four unforgettable treks in the Everest, Annapurna, and Kanchenjunga regions, I can confirm that trekking-Nepal is a fantastic French-speaking agency, both logistically and culturally. Mankumar manages the acclimatization and safety of the groups perfectly. Highly recommended.

frequently asked Question

The EBC Trek spans 15-16 days, covering arrival, rest days, and a buffer for weather delays. This pace ensures safe climbing for the high-elevation Base Camp ascent.

No experience is needed, but it helps. Past high-elevation hikes prepare you for the physical and mental demands. Fit hikers with training shine.

The trek is tough, with steep climbs and high elevation up to 5,545m at Kala Patthar. Good fitness and prep are essential.

Yes, you need two permits: a Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit and a TIMS card. Your trekking agency usually sorts these out.

Kala Patthar, at 5,545m elevation, is the highest point. It offers epic sunrise views of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse.

Teahouses offer simple twin-sharing rooms with shared bathrooms. Namche Bazaar and Dingboche may have private bathrooms for extra cost. Lodges are cozy and clean.

Meals are hearty, with dal bhat (unlimited refills), momos, pasta, rice, and Tibetan bread. Options get simpler at higher elevations.

Moderate to high risk above 3,500m elevation. Rest days, hydration, and slow pacing help. Watch for headaches, nausea, dizziness, and descend if worse.

Nights in Gorakshep can drop to -10°C to -15°C (14°F to 5°F) in autumn or winter. Pack thermal layers and a four-season sleeping bag.

Yes, but stay cautious. Trails are clear, but high-elevation spots like Base Camp require navigation skills and self-reliance. .

Helicopter evacuation is the main option for emergencies. Ensure travel insurance covers trekking above 5,000m elevation with airlift and medical care.
